In an interview, EA’s vice president of strategic growth, Matt Bilbey, explains that after the Star Wars Battlefront 2 debacle he and Patrick Soderlund, EA’s chief creative officer, worked together to overhaul the company’s development process. The development framework and testing platforms were “redesigned” in order to give game teams “the right guidance.” Bilbey calls this “an EA moral compass.” Bilbey goes onto explain that this overhaul allows Electronic Arts to begin designing a game’s live service (how the game will be supported post-launch) right from the beginning of development....

Electronic Arts Chief Creative Officer Richard Hilleman certainly thinks so. During a panel discussion at this year’s D.I.C.E. Summit, an annual gathering of top video game executives, host Pete Holmes joked that all games should have the same controller layout, to make games easier to pick up for casual users. Taking to Twitter yesterday, Musk made lighthearted fun of the fact that Cyberpunk 2077’s recent hotfixes have themselves required fixes on top of them to undo the damage. This comment is likely in response to the recent 1.11 update which was made available shortly after an earlier patch did not fix some of the biggest issues with crashing experienced by players. The 1.11 update does, however, fix one major fault with the game in which one mission became unplayable due to an NPC not saying anything on a call....

Zoë Schiffer, managing editor of Platformer which has done extensive reporting on Musk’s tenure in charge of the social media giant, tweeted on Saturday that the Twitter CEO had “threatened to sue employees at his company” if they revealed such information to the media. Schiffer shared what she said was the letter that employees had been given which referred to how “detailed leaks” had shown that “a few people at our company continue to act in a manner contrary to the company’s interests and in violation of their NDA (non-disclosure agreement)....
